Strategic Business Valuation Course Requirements

The MBA Program at the DeGroote School of Business requires four terms of on-campus studies.  Each term consists of twelve to thirteen weeks followed by an examination period.  In the first year of studies, students undertake the core courses of the program which provide a common foundation for the second year of the program.  In the second year students may follow a general program or concentrate in a particular area of interest.  Students who elect to specialize in Strategic Business Valuation must successfully complete the following course requirements for the second year of studies. 

Required for the SBV Specialization:

  • P700 Business, Government and the Global Environment
  • P720 Strategic Management
  • V700 Strategic Business Analysis and Valuation
  • V704 Advanced Strategic Business Valuation
and three of the following:

  • F712 Applied Corporate Finance
  • F721 Mergers, Acquisitions, and Corporate Control
  • V701 Financial Reporting and Disclosure Analysis
  • V702 Behavioural Finance
  • V703 Financial Modeling and Valuation
  • V705 Venture Capital
plus three electives

Required for a Minor in SBV:
  • V700 Strategic Business Analysis and Valuation
and two of the following:

  • F712 Applied Corporate Finance
  • F721 Mergers, Acquisitions, and Corporate Control
  • V701 Financial Reporting and Disclosure Analysis
  • V702 Behavioural Finance
  • V703 Financial Modeling and Valuation
  • V704 Advanced Strategic Business Valuation
  • V705 Venture Capital
